Tiger Tanuki is an art consultancy and gallery founded in 2014 by Danish art historian Malene Wagner. The aim is to cultivate an interest and knowledge of Japanese art and aesthetics within and across commercial and academic contexts. We work with private clients as well as brands and art institutions. Previous collaborations include Muji Denmark, Tokyo Weekender, Kinfolk, Waraku Magazine and National gallery of Denmark.
We also collect and source works of art upon request. Browse a selection of our original prints for sale here.

Kyosai Kawanabe is perhaps the most fascinating and unique artist of the Meiji Era (1867-1912) in the transition from old to new Japan. A master creator of both the natural and supernatural world, he was drawn to both the humorous and horrible, which followed him from an early age.

Although still considered somewhat foreign and exotic by many of us in the West, some aspects of Japanese culture have been adopted into mainstream Western culture – just think of sushi, sake and sakura. With this exhibition, the largest one on manga held outside of Japan to date, British Museum shows that manga too has a place in modern-day Western (pop) culture.
